Debate Side Picker

The Debate Side Picker is a ready-made spin wheel for students use. It loads with 4 sample entries — Pro, Con, Moderator, Timekeeper — that you can keep, edit, or replace entirely. Click the wheel above, or press Space, to pick one at random.

How to use this wheel

  1. Add your entries — Open the Entries tab. Type names, paste a list with Bulk edit (one per line), or Import a TXT/CSV file.
  2. Adjust settings — In Customize, pick colors, spin duration, sounds, and whether winners are removed after each spin.
  3. Spin — Click the wheel or press Space. The winner appears below the wheel and in the Results tab.
  4. Share or save — Use Share to copy a link, or export your list as TXT/CSV when you are done.

When this wheel helps

  • Assigning roles in a group project
  • Picking debate sides fairly
  • Choosing a study topic for the session
  • Deciding presentation order in class

Quick tips

  1. Paste your full list with Bulk edit instead of typing entries one by one.
  2. Share the wheel link in a video call so remote viewers see the same spin.
  3. Shuffle entries before an important spin so segment order does not look fixed.
  4. Check the Results tab if you need a quick history of recent winners.
  5. Use remove-winner when you need several unique picks from the same list.

Debate Side Picker — FAQs

Q1: How do I spin the Debate Side Picker?

Click the wheel or press Space on your keyboard. The wheel spins and stops on one entry. You can also tap the wheel on a phone or tablet.

Q2: Can I replace the default entries?

Yes. Open the Entries tab to type names, use Bulk edit to paste one item per line, or Import a TXT/CSV file. The defaults (Pro, Con, Moderator, Timekeeper) are just a starting point.

Q3: Is the Debate Side Picker free?

Yes. You can spin as many times as you want, add unlimited entries, and share your wheel — no account or payment required.

Turn on "Remove winner after spin" in the Customize tab. The winning entry is removed automatically before the next spin.

Q6: Does my list get saved online?

No. Your entries stay in your browser's local storage. Nothing is uploaded to our servers.

Q7: Can I share this wheel with others?

Click Share in the toolbar to copy a link. Anyone who opens it sees the same entries and settings you configured.

Q8: Does the Debate Side Picker work on a projector or in a students setting?

Yes. Press F or tap the fullscreen button so everyone can see the spin. Sound effects can be toggled from the top bar.
